Invitation and conditions
of entry to the 3rd International Prize for Textile Architecture
The Working Group for Textile Architecture will award the
International Prize for Textile Architecture for the third time
in 1999. This prize honors the architects and engineers of an
internationally outstanding building that uses textile membranes
in an innovative and future-orientated way. The aim is to promote
the idea of building with textiles and to publicize the opportunities
offered by modem textile architecture.
The competition is open to architects and engineers from all
over the world with projects that have been completed after 1
January, 1997, or which are still under construction and are
scheduled for completion in 1999.
The prize will be awarded at a ceremony during Techtextil
in Frankfurt. The prizewinning building will be exhibited at
a special show during the fair and presented to the international
press.
The winning entry will be chosen by a jury of renowned experts.
The jury's decision is final and incontestable.
• Submission
Entries for the International Prize for Textile Architecture
should be submitted to

5 p.m. on 18 December, 1998.
Competition entries may also be handed in personally between
9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on 17 and 18 December, 1998.
• Composition of the work
Plans, photographs or models may be submitted. Please do not
send files or bound reports. A one to two page explanatory report
in English and German should be included. All documents should
be suitable for exhibiting and be marked on the front with the
name of the entrant and the name of the building. Name, address,
telephone number and, if applicable, telefax number should be
noted on the back of the documents.
• Handling
Delivery, storage and return of all works, especially models,
are at the entrant's risk. Return is only possible if suitable
packaging material is supplied. Packaging materials intended
for reuse should be marked on the inside with the name and address
of the entrant.
• Publication
The Working Group for Textile Architecture is entitled to use
all photographs, drawings and descriptions for publicity purposes
and, for example, to give them to the trade press.
