Argentina: Zimmer to Build Polyester Plant ARGENTINA, Nov. 23, 1997 Zimmer AG, Frankfurt/Main, a company of the Lurgi Group, has been awarded a contract by Manufacturas de Fibras Sinteticas S.A. (MAFISSA) to build a polyester spinning plant at Olmos, La Plata. The contract covers a high speed spinning facility designed for the production of 19,600 tons/year of partially oriented yarn (POY) spun direct from polymer melt. Subsequently, the yarn will be further processed at high texturizing speeds for textile application. Total investment value amounts to DM 40 million.
Zimmer will supply the process technology, engineering and equipment and equipment and be responsible for the supervision of erection and start-up. Commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 1998.
The Frankfurt engineering and construction company is currently building and MAFISSA's Olmos site a 52,500 tons/year capacity polyester polycondensation plant.
